Pace of Play

The number one problem in golf today, as evidenced by the overwhelming golfer complaint, is SLOW PLAY!

All players should take responsibility for the speed of play in their group, not just the low marker.

In order to avoid slow play, and to play “time efficient golf”, adopt the following:

Hints for Time Efficient Golf

Remember to:

  1. Meet your responsibility to KEEP UP with the group in front, NOT in front of the group behind.
  2. Dispense with the “honour” on the tees. Play ‘ready’ golf.
  3. Have the shortest hitter hit first.
  4. Keep walking toward the green provided you don’t put yourself in danger or impede a playing partners next shot.
  5. Walk directly to your ball and hit when ready. This may be  out of turn if your playing partner is not ready.
  6. Hit your ball before looking for someone else’s ball.
  7. Putt out at all times provided you don’t interfere with another player’s line.
  8. The first two players to putt out should proceed to the next tee and hit off if safe.
  9. Hit off before marking the score card. Do not mark the card while on the green.
  10. Park buggies at the exit from the green to the next tee not at the front of the green which will delay following players hitting to the green.

Above all, enjoy the comradeship, the scenery, the birdlife and in between the odd great golf shot.

At Werribee Park all rounds should be completed in less than 4 hours and 20 minutes, irrespective of the competition/event being played.
