Womens Golf Major Events

VAL HUDSON MEMORIAL TROPHY

Two asterisks (**) preceding descriptions of the competition event of the day  indicates  a qualifying round for the trophy.

There are 20 possible qualifying rounds, with a minimum of 15 rounds to count. The lowest average nett score ( to two decimal places ) of the  total best 15 rounds played shall determine the winner of this trophy.  In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by calculating the lowest differential between the lowest and highest scores of the 15 eligible cards of the tied competitors.

 

MONTHLY  MEDAL

A stroke event normally conducted on the first Wednesday of each month.

The player who completes the stroke round with the lowest nett score, irrespective of handicap grade, shall be the winner. Coincident with winning the medal the player shall be awarded the Grade trophy of the day.  In the event of a tie, the ultimate winner shall be decided by a playoff during the next available stroke round. 

In the event of this playoff being tied, play will continue until a result is achieved, i.e, 19th hole or further.  The playoff shall commence from the first tee.  All players must have played 5 competition rounds at Werribee Park Golf Club to be eligible to win a monthly medal.

 

MEDAL  OF  MEDALS

A stroke event, conducted annually and limited to those members who have won a monthly medal during the preceding golfing year at WPGC.

The event is played over 18 holes on the last Wednesday in February, the best nett score deciding the winner of the Medal of Medals.  In the event of a tie the winner shall be decided by an 18 hole playoff during the next available stroke round.

 

CLUB  CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Women’s Club Championships are conducted over three 18 hole rounds of stroke play with the best aggregate gross scores deciding the Championship winner and grade winners.  A nett event is also conducted in each grade, together with an overall putting competition.

The following conditions apply for the championships:

a)             To be eligible to compete in the Club Championship

i)              A golfer must be a current financial member as at 1st April of the year of the Championship.

ii)             Members must have submitted five 18 hole club competition cards during the previous golf year (excluding the previous year’s Championship cards) i.e from 1st March of year prior to the Championship. Cards are to be for individual competitions only and must have been played at Werribee Park Golf Club.

iii)            The appropriate entry fee must be paid on or prior to the closing date for entries.

b)             Eligible entrants must compete in the competition of the day to qualify for the championships.

c)             Gradings are those set out by the Committee for the Championships:

Generally:               A Grade = 0 - 18,

B Grade = 19 - 29,

C Grade = 30 - 45.

e)              Handicaps applying for the first round shall be retained for each round of the Club Championship.  Handicaps shall be adjusted under normal WGA procedures for the individual competition being played concurrently with the championship round.

f)              In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by a sudden death playoff fro the gross event and a countback for the nett event.

 

ANNIVERSARY  CUP (Stroke)

Conducted  over one round during the first week of December. The player who completes the round with the lowest nett score, irrespective of handicap grade shall be the winner. 

In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by a playoff on a date to be determined by the Match Committee.

 

AUTUMN  SHIELD

Stroke event conducted over three 18 hole rounds.  Winner of the Shield is the player with the best nett aggregate score. 

 

4BBB HANDICAP  MATCHPLAY  KNOCKOUT

Entries shall be received by the Women’s Golf Committee from teams of two players. Seeding of teams will be determined by a random draw.

Each knockout will be decided by Matchplay.

 

CAPTAIN’S  TROPHY

The event is conducted over two 18 hole rounds.  Winner of the trophy is the player with the highest nett aggregate stableford adjusted score.

 

JOAN  MARK  MEMORIAL  TROPHY

In honour of Joan Mark a former Club Champion.

Conducted  over 3 rounds, one each of stroke, par and stableford.  Winner of trophy will be the best nett aggregate score recorded over the three rounds.

 

MONTHLY SATURDAY BROOCH

To be held in conjunction with the men’s monthly medal. Conditions of competition are as for the Monthly Medal.
